my printmaking process…
I work with wood because of the beauty of the wood grain, which I let shine through in my prints. My goal is to achieve a sort of alchemy between my design and intentions and the wood grain itself.
I create my prints using multiple blocks, the reduction process, or sometimes a combination of both techniques. I print with oil-based inks on hand-torn Japanese washi papers. I don’t have a press, so all of my prints are hand-printed using a baren, a traditional Japanese printmaking tool. Because I ink and print by hand, each print within an edition will have slight variations.
